Davis And Martin Make Weight Followed By A Heated Face-Off

Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin made weight ahead of their June 15 lightweight clash.

Davis defends his WBA Lightweight Belt after 14 months out of the ring. His last fight was a stoppage victory against Ryan Garcia in 2023. Davis then spent 44 days behind bars for breaking the terms of his house arrest over a hit-and-run incident. Martin is chasing his first world title. He is 18-0. He defeated Artem Harutyunyan in his last fight after his opponent took a knee in the final round.

During the pre-fight presser, Davis attempted to intimidate Martin at the face-off. Tank motioned to punch, resulting in Martin flinching. This time around, there were more attempts to get into Martin’s head. Davis weighed 133.4 pounds, while Martin weighed 134.4 pounds. The two exchanged verbal shots at each other during a heated face-off. Martin looked drained on the scales. Meanwhile, Davis did a backflip to show how confident he was about getting a win.

In chief support, David Benavidez takes on Oleksandr Gvozdyk in his first fight at 175. The WBC interim belt is on the line, with the winner becoming mandatory for the Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship, which takes place between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol on October 12. Both fighters weighed 174.2 pounds. The face-off was more cordial as both men sized each other up.
