Dustin Poirier Vs. Benoit Saint-Denis Is Back On, Cancellation Labelled A Misunderstanding

After a brief moment of confusion, Dustin Poirier will indeed fight Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299.

The news broke that the pair could not come to terms regarding their contracts on Thursday through a post on Social Media from “The Diamond” himself. But, just hours later, the former interim lightweight champion returned to X (Twitter) to explain that the cancellation announcement was due to a ‘misunderstanding’ on his end, and the fight is still planned to go ahead.

Poirier and Saint-Denis will meet in the co-main event of an absolutely stacked UFC 299 card on March 9th. Following their bout, Sean O’Malley will defend his bantamweight title for the first time in the highly anticipated rematch versus Marlon Vera.

Gilbert Burns, who is scheduled to face Jack Della Maddalena on the same card in March, extended a congratulatory message to Poirier following the announcement that the terms had actually been agreed on, despite the confusion.
