Haney And Garcia Size Each Other Up In Kickoff Presser

Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia held their kickoff press conference from the Palladium Times Square in New York ahead of their WBC Junior Welterweight Title clash on April 20.

Haney makes the first defense of his title after he beat Regis Prograis in a one-sided unanimous decision last December to become a two-weight world champion. Heading into the fight, Haney has spoken about making the biggest fights for the most money now that he sees his legacy is intact.

Garcia is looking to secure his first world title in his second fight under Derrick James. He heads into the fight with an eight-round stoppage win over Oscar Duarte. Ryan initially pulled out of talks with Haney to secure a fight with Rolando Romero. Garcia called it the better business move, but talks broke down as Romero signed a deal to face Isaac Cruz.

Garcia and Haney’s amateur record stands at 3-3, making this the decisive fight. The bout has no rematch or rehydration clause, leaving the loser with no excuses. This is the first of two promotional pressers, with the second set for February 29 from AVALON Hollywood, California. Here were the key moments from the presser.
