Israel Adesanya Open To A Trilogy With Alex Pereira

Israel Adesanya has not ruled out a trilogy fight with Alex Pereira, provided that it takes place at light heavyweight for a belt.

The current rivalry stands at 1-1 in the UFC following Adesanya’s second-round KO at UFC 287, as he became the middleweight champion.

And in doing so, Adesanya got the title after having lost to Pereria at UFC 281. While Pereira was keen on getting a rematch, Adesanya shut down those claims by telling the Brazilian to target the big hitters at light heavy.

As a result, Pereira will begin his campaign in the division with a bout against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291.

His opponent just so happened to be the only other person that has beaten Adesanya in the UFC outside of Pereira.

However, Adesanya is open to running things back if it is for a belt at light heavyweight, which would allow him to become a two-division champion.

“If he wins the belt at 205, I’ll do it again. But if not, I think he’s done with it, I’m done with it. Everybody else wants to see it, but we’re done with it, that’s life,” Adesanya

Despite this being the case, Adesanya has things closer to home to worry about. His first defense of the middleweight title will be against the winner of Robert Whittaker vs. Dricus Du Plessis.

But if Adesanya and Pereria continue to rack up the victories, then the chances of their paths crossing once again will only increase.
