Max Holloway Pushes For Mark Coleman To Award BMF Belt At UFC 300

Max Holloway wants former UFC Heavyweight Champion Mark Coleman to honor the BMF Champion with the belt.

Holloway faces the current BMF champion, Justin Gaethje, at UFC 300 on April 13. Gaethje secured the vacant belt, knocking out Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 last year. Holloway bounced back from his defeat to former UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 276 in 2022 with two consecutive wins. Victories against Arnold Allen and Chan Sung Jung (Korean Zombie) gave him the title shot. Holloway praised Coleman in light of recent events.

Coleman was recently released from hospital after being admitted with smoke inhalation after rescuing his parents from a house fire. Reports indicated the incident happened on March 12 near Toledo, Ohio. After Coleman rescued his parents, he returned to the house to save his dog, Hammer. The dog would pass away, but Coleman fully recovered in hospital, receiving much praise for his bravery.

When asked who should give the champion the belt, Holloway wanted Coleman. The BMF has a history of noteworthy athletes presenting the belt to the champion. Dwayne Johnson, or The Rock, presented the inaugural belt after Jorge Masvidal defeated Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in 2019. After Gaethje defeated Poirier, Masvidal passed the torch by awarding Justin the belt.

Coleman could do the same at UFC 300 if given the opportunity.

“The only correct answer is Mark Coleman. Especially with what he went through recently with his dog and his dog waking him to go save his stuff and he goes in there and runs for his dog? The guy’s a G. That’s a real life BMF. That would be sick if he did it. It would be an honor to get him to do it,” Holloway said
