Michael Chandler And Ric Flair Engage In Comical Altercation

While waiting for the plans for his fight with Conor McGregor to come together, Michael Chandler has been keeping his competitive mindset active.

And it seems, getting into it with WWE superstars like Ric Flair in public just goes along with that mindset.

While the acting was quite convincing on both ends, this was of course just a comedic bit that the pair were putting on while out at a pub on Tuesday night. The comical aspect became apparent when Flair delivered a fake punch to Chandler, who responded with a slap followed by a takedown shot.

As it turns out, Chandler and Flair have actually been quite close personally for the last couple of years. Following his KO victory over Dan Hooker at UFC 257 in 2021, the former Bellator champion proceeded to act out a Ric Flair inspired post fight interview that displayed shades of Flair’s 1992 Royal Rumble victory speech. Since then, the pair have stayed in contact.

The post fight interview also included a call-out of Conor McGregor. At the time, the call-out was just in an effort to get the former double champ’s attention. But now, it appears that is the only fight on Chandler’s mind. The hope is that the bout will come to fruition in 2024 now that the pair have completed their coaching obligations on The Ultimate Fighter, and the USADA roadblock is out of the way.

Flair has had an illustrious career that has spanned 50-years in the professional wrestling space. Most notably, he was the WCW champion between 1993 and 1996, was a co-owner of the WWF in the early 2000s, and has had some form of involvement with the WWE since 2001.

In 2023, Flair made his return to PPV on “Full Gear” by All Elite Wrestling to honor the legendary career of String prior to his retirement. Shortly after the appearance, it was announced that Flair had signed a multi-year deal with AEW.
