Naoya Inoue Vs. Gervonta Davis Could Happen – Says Stephen Espinoza

Stephen Espinoza has not ruled out the possibility of Gervonta Davis facing Naoya Inoue

The Japanese became the unified super-bantamweight champion with an eighth-round-stoppage win over Stephen Fulton.

In doing so, Inoue became a four-division champion with the WBO and WBC belts. An undisputed fight with Marlon Tapales is being targeted.

If Inoue were to come out victorious, then a move up to featherweight and super-featherweight could follow with an outside chance of a fight at lightweight.

Although that would involve moving up another few weight classes, Espinoza has not ruled it out.

“Look, you never know. Inoue’s come up a lot of weight already, but he’s been carrying the power the whole time. Yeah it sounds a little bit crazy now he’s at 122lbs, but it’s only 13lbs more.

“It’s intriguing. I would love to see Tank vs Inoue. After that performance yesterday I wouldn’t put anything out of his reach,” Inoue

Nevertheless, weight classes do exist for a reason. Mikey Garcia’s fight against Errol Spence Jr. showed that.

The Mexican jumped up two-weight divisions to face the ‘Truth’ after infamously claiming that he had ‘seen’ something in Spence.

However, in the ring, Garcia was battered for 12 rounds in a one-sided fight. So, for now, a fight is still some way off.
