Jimmie Rivera, ranked No. 6 in the UFC’s bantamweight rankings, has announced he will not be competing on next Sunday’s Fight Night card in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rivera was originally scheduled to take on Bryan Caraway on the card, but Caraway withdrew from the bout due to an undisclosed injury. The UFC, however, had been looking for a replacement opponent, and some reports stated last week that Marlon Vera could have stepped up as a last minute replacement. The UFC even promoted the bout on its website before Rivera’s announcement.

There is no word from the UFC yet on this matter.

Rivera last fought at UFC 203 in Cleveland back in September, where he scored a victory over the recently retired Urijah Faber.

UFC Fight Night 103 will be headlined by the return of B.J. Penn, who faces Yair Rodriguez.
