Sean O’Malley Outlines His Plans For The Tank Davis Fight – ‘Just Planting The Seed’

Sean O’Malley has doubled down on his desire to fight Gervonta Davis in a boxing fight.

The UFC bantamweight champion’s confidence is riding high following his stoppage-win over Aljamain Sterling. The victory ended Sterling’s nine-fight-win streak. Meanwhile, O’Malley’s stock began to rise with many making comparisons with Conor McGregor.

In response, O’Malley has sought to exploit his growing popularity by crossing over into the sport of boxing. And in doing so, he could follow in the footsteps of McGregor and Nate Diaz who have had major crossover fights. Although that may be the case, the chances of a fight are still some way off.

With both Davis and O’Malley in their prime, taking a fight such as this may not be the most appropriate course of action. That is why O’Malley is targeting the fight later down the future.

“We’re both undefeated boxers. It just make sense. That’s what you do when you’re both undefeated boxers, you go out there and you see who’s the best….I’m not as big as Conor right now, he’s not as big as Floyd. So, I’m just planting the seed, letting it grow,” O’Malley said

As long as the demand is there to make it happen, then an O’Malley-Davis fight could happen. But for now, O’Malley’s focus should be on defending his belt. And there is no getting away from that.
