Stallone Honors ‘Rocky’ Co-Star Burt Young Following His Passing – ‘The World Will Miss You’

Sylvester Stallone has paid homage to Burt Young following the 83-year-old actor’s passing.

According to reports, Young passed away on October 8th, 2023. Young, otherwise known as Gerald Tommaso DeLouise, made a name for himself as the character of Paulie in the first six Rocky films. The character was the brother of Rocky’s wife (Adrian), and the performances earned the actor an Oscar nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actor.’ Outside of the Rocky franchise, Young appeared in the following films: Chinatown, The Pope of Greenwich Village and Once Upon a Time in America.

However, prior to acting, Young was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the 50s. In addition, the actor dabbled in boxing during his early years. The passion for fighting, though, was usurped by the desire to enter into acting.

“I had a future, but my family didn’t want me taking punches. So I did what I could do and I put my own heart, my own needs aside. Of course I missed it. But it’s a hard sport to miss because who likes to get punched in the face,” Young

Nevertheless, Young’s passion for fighting remained. During the 80’s, Young managed to guide the career of David Sears, who ultimately lost his undisputed light heavyweight bout against Michael Spinks. During the latter parts of his life, Young’s painting ended up in several galleries globally as the tributes poured in for the late actor.
