UFC Cancels March 3 Event

The UFC has nixed another event in the first quarter of 2017. The promotion announced on Monday that a show scheduled for March 3 in Las Vegas  has been cancelled. There was no reason given for the cancellation.

The event was set to be part of a double-header, taking place the night before UFC 209, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was slated to air on UFC Fight Pass.

No fights had been announced for the March 3 show. UFC 209 on March 4 will be headlined by a rematch between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson, the promotion announced on Monday.

This is the second previously announced 2017 event that was cancelled. UFC 208 had been set for Jan. 21 in Anaheim, California. The pay-per-view card was scrapped due to a lack of available fighters (champions) to headline the event. UFC 208 was moved to Feb. 11 in Brooklyn, New York and is headlined by an inaugural featherweight bout between Holly Holm and Germaine De Randamie.
