UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus Du Plessis Says He Wants Israel Adesanya Next

Despite turning down the offer to settle his beef with Israel Adesanya at UFC 300, Dricus Du Plessis is now calling the former champion out in an effort to set up their meeting.

When the call came to “DDP” with the UFC 300 offer, he did not feel he would be fully recovered from the damage he took in his previous fight, in which he was awarded the title over Sean Strickland. But, it is clear that it was just an issue of timing, and the titleholder is very much still interested in fighting Adesanya.

Appearing on a recent episode of the “Hustlers Corner” podcast, Du Plessis named “The Last Stylebender” as who he wants to fight next.

“So you claim you want to drag my carcass around in South Africa, as you said,” du Plessis said on the “Hustlers Corner” video podcast. “So be a man of your word, and let’s do it.”

The 185-pound champion also went on to mention that they are in the process of trying to set up the match with his fellow African rival.

“We are trying,” du Plessis said of the title matchup. “We are talking, definitely. That’s what the people want to see, and that’s what I want to do. I want to fight the best guys. This is an entertaining sport.

“Who do I wanna fight? I don’t care, I’m the champion. I’ll fight whoever they put in front of me. But what I want in my heart is to fight the guy that the people want to see me fight.”
