Anderson Silva Is In Top Shape For His Fight With Chael Sonnen

Anderson Silva is in top shape ahead of his boxing fight with Chael Sonnen on June 15.

It is a five-round contest at 216 pounds, taking place in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Sonnen lost to Anderson on two occasions at UFC 117 and UFC 148. However, this will be the first time they meet in a boxing ring. Silva has three boxing fights in his career. He has beaten Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz. However, his last fight was a defeat to Jake Paul in 2022.

Sonnen has never boxed before. He was offered $2 million to box Mike Tyson, but the fight never went ahead. However, given that this trilogy will take place outside of MMA, it motivates Silva more. Based on his current training, he felt ready for the challenge. Silva’s coach, Luiz Dorea, talked up his fighter.

“His condition is above normal. His age doesn’t reflect the reality. He’s 49 but looks 10, 15 years younger. The way he moves, his notion of time and distance and how fast he learns, his reflexes. You’ll see that on June 15. I always say the knockout is the consequence of good hands that connect. And Anderson is ready to connect and go for the knockout. I believe Sonnen is taking care of himself, because Anderson is coming in his best shape and motivated to fight in Brazil,” Dorea said
