Anderson Silva Records One Of His Greatest Knockouts – August 8, 2009 (This Day In MMA History)

Thirteen years ago, MMA fans witnessed what some considered was a fight between David and Goliath.

Silva was in the middle of his UFC record-breaking 16 fight winning streak when he met Forrest Griffin on August 8, 2009. Silva ended the night early in the first round by knocking out Griffin, but it was a hard-fought defeat for the challenger.

Despite being overwhelmed by Silva, Griffin had made a huge effort and tried to hold on.

But Silva caught his opponent in what some consider his greatest knockout.

Griffin did not participate in any post-fight ceremonies.
