Andrade and Gadelha Earn Top Bonuses
After a bloody and hard fought battle, strawweight contenders Jessica Andrade and Claudia Gadelha banked $50,000 apiece for “Fight of the Night” in their co-headlining affair at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Gadelha had the early advantage over Andrade garnering an edge in striking in round one. Andrade would take over down the stretch, as she slammed her opponent to the mat repeatedly and unloaded with punishing ground-and-pound in rounds two and three. While Gadelha hung tough, it was Andrade would use rounds two and three to garner not only the clear victory, but the $50,000 bonus.
In the other headlining bout Ovince St. Preux’s via his third career Von Flue choke submission netted him a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” paycheck in the official main event. “OSP” got the jump early on Okami with a takedown and settled in half-guard with his foe hanging on to a guillotine. St. Preux would then secure the choke, move to side control and get the tapout under two minutes into the opening roun.d
Kickboxing star Gokhan Saki went beyond expectations in his UFC debut, as he would also earn a $50,000 bonus for “Performance of the Night.” Saki would net the extra pay for his first-round knockout of Henrique da Silva.
