Andy Ruiz Jr (35-2-1, 22 KOs) has publicly demanded a fight with Deontay Wilder (45-4-1, 43 KOs), saying he wants to settle a rivalry that has been discussed for years.
Ruiz has fought just once since 2022, drawing with Jarrell Miller in a bout that left him with a fractured right hand. Having recovered from that injury, the former unified champion is looking to re-establish himself in the division.
“I want to beat up chicken legs Wilder, because that fight was supposed to be made so many years ago,” Ruiz
Wilder enters the conversation off back-to-back wins for the first time since 2019, most recently defeating Derek Chisora last month. Talks for a fight with unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk have already broken down, with Usyk now expected to face WBC mandatory challenger Agit Kabayel next, leaving the door open for a Ruiz fight. However, a rematch with Chisora also remains a possibility for Wilder, leaving Ruiz with another potential missed opportunity.
