Andy Ruiz Jr. has once again said he wants to face Deontay Wilder, though he clarified that if he doesn’t receive an appropriate offer, he will move on to other opponents. Ruiz (35 – 2, 22 KO) insists that he never asked for $25 million for a fight with Wilder, but he didn’t specify what his financial goals are for the fight.
While most buzz has surrounded the potential for a Wilder vs Joshua bout, talks about a Wilder vs Ruiz fight have similarly been discussed throughout 2023.
Ruiz also claimed that he would like to be active in 2024, where he could fight three to four times. He is also interested in a trilogy fight with Anthony Joshua.
“I don’t think they want to fight. I think Eddie Hearn is already traumatized. He doesn’t want to match him against anyone good unless he’s trying to get his money and leave,” said Ruiz.
The former champ didn’t stop there however, he set his ambitions extremely high and has cast a wide net hoping to land a big fish.
“I want to take out Deontay Wilder, I want to take out Tyson Fury and then I want to get my belts back from Usyk,” said Ruiz.
Despite the callouts from Ruiz, and the stated desire to be active in 2024, it must be noted that Ruiz has fought only twice since his December 2019 loss to Joshua, including sitting on the sideline for thirteen months and counting.
