Angel Garcia Explains What Went Wrong With Danny Against Errol Spence Jr.

Angel Garcia has gone over what went wrong for Danny against Errol Spence Jr.

Spence vs. Garcia headlined a PBC on FOX pay-per-view card this past Saturday, December 5. The bout also aired live on FIGHT SPORTS in over 30 countries worldwide. Spence successfully defended the WBC and IBF Welterweight Titles via unanimous decision. This was much to the delight of the pro-Spence crowd inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Angel, the father and trainer of Danny, explained to reporters during the post-fight press conference what went wrong with his son (h/t BoxingScene.com).

“He didn’t do nothing wrong today. He just wasn’t busy enough. You know, like, he lost, yes. But it was because he chose to do that. It’s not because really Spence whipped his ass or nothing. I ain’t see no whipping in there. I mean, a little bump on [his face]. A little bump here and there – that comes with the package. You always gonna get bruised, and he light-skinned. You’re gonna see it more than anybody else.

“But it’s not like Spence whipped his ass or nothing. I mean, he never hit the canvas. He took the shots well, like I said. I mean, he’s just gotta get busier. You only win fights by landing. You don’t win fights by nothing else. That was the only problem he had tonight. He let his hands go, but not like he was supposed to.”

With the loss, Garcia falls to 36-3. Garcia had won two straight before losing to Spence. Meanwhile for Spence, he remains undefeated in his pro boxing career with a record of 27-0.
