Angela Hill-Michelle Waterson Reportedly Set For August UFC Fight Night Card
Although her invitation to “Fight Island” may have gotten lost in the mail, Angela Hill continues to be ready for any opportunity the UFC offers her. The newly-ranked Hill will look to continue her active run against a top contender in Michelle Waterson.
MMA Junkie was the first to report that a bout between the two strawweight’s would be taking place on August 22.
Hill (12-8) would be competing in her fourth fight in 2020. This would also be her seventh fight since the start of 2019 and ninth since the start of 2018. “Overkill” is 4-2 in her last six fights following a run that had her 2-4. She beat Hannah Cifers in January via TKO and then beat Loma Lookboonmee a month later via unanimous decision.
The 13th-ranked fighter in the UFC’s strawweight rankings, Hill is coming off of a controversial unanimous decision loss against Claudia Gadelha back in May.
Waterson (17-8) is coming off of a split decision loss against Carla Esparza back at UFC 249 in May. “The Karate Hottie” believes she won that bout. That was her second loss in a row, as Joanna Jedrzejczyk beat her in October to secure a UFC Strawweight Title shot. Waterson was on a three-fight win streak before those losses. She is currently ranked eighth in the UFC’s strawweight rankings.
As of now, the August 22 card will take place inside the UFC’s APEX Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The scheduled main event appears to be Yoel Romero v. Uriah Hall in a middleweight bout.
