Angelino Cordova Beats Angel Acosta In A Debatable Decision

On April 6th, 2023, Angelino Cordova achieved a significant victory over Angel Acosta, although it was a debatable one.

Acosta, with a record of 23-4 and 22 knockouts, had a good start in the first three rounds but appeared to struggle after the fourth, which could have been attributed to a rabbit punch from Cordova.

Cordova had a point deducted for the infringement. It was clear that Acosta’s punching power was evident, but Cordova managed to evade his punches and counter which may have swayed the judges.

According to CompuBox, Cordova threw a total of 704 punches and landed 184. On the other hand, Acosta threw 481 punches and landed 158. Acosta also landed 149 out of 390 power shots, while Cordova landed 140 out of 485.

The three judges gave Cordova the victory with scores of 95-94, 95-94, and 96-93, despite his point deduction.
