Anthony Joshua: ‘I Will Put In A Serious Offer To Fight Tyson Fury’
Anthony Joshua says he is serious about putting pen to paper for a showdown with Tyson Fury.
Joshua vs. Fury is considered to be one of the biggest fights that could be made in the world of boxing. Both men hold major titles with Joshua laying claim to the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO gold and Fury holding the WBC and The Ring Titles. Both men have expressed interest in making the bout happen.
If anyone was doubting Joshua’s eagerness to pull the fight off, he’s letting it be known that Fury will be given a lucrative offer for a showdown in May (h/t BoxingScene.com).
“If this is the fight that people want to see – whether it’s in the UK, in Saudi Arabia or Africa – I just hope the fight gets done. I put too much energy into this stuff. I just want to fight. I’m not about talking and creating false narratives.
“I promise you this: I will put in a serious offer to fight Tyson Fury and if he’s serious himself, he will take it. If he’s not I will fight [Oleksandr] Usyk and leave it there.”
Joshua competed on December 12 in the main event of a Matchroom Boxing card. He successfully defended his gold against Kubrat Pulev. “AJ” scored a TKO victory in the ninth round.
Fury hasn’t been in action since February. He scored a seventh-round TKO victory over Deontay Wilder to capture the WBC gold. “The Gypsy King” planned to have a bout in late 2020 but his team scrapped those plans.
