Anthony Pettis Defeats Benson Henderson For Lightweight Title – August 31, 2013 (This Day In MMA History)

Eight years ago, Anthony Pettis claimed the UFC lightweight title belt. After the fight, he went to his father’s grave and laid the title on it.

Pettis (24-12) defeated Benson Henderson for the title via submission just seconds before the end of the first round. The fight took place in his hometown of Milwaukee.

Pettis has shared the octagon with top fighters in the division including Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, but has lost to both of them.
