Number 2-ranked UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan (23-3) has teased a drop to the featherweight division.
Posting a poll on his Threads account, Tsarukyan asked:“UFC fans, is it time for me to save the featherweight division?” The move comes as a direct response to Number 1 featherweight contender Movsar Evloev’s majority decision win over Lerone Murphy, as Tsarukyan has talked up a bout against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.
Tsarukyan joked about his plans for the champion: “I’ll beat Volk and then I’ll hire him as my chef because when I beat him, he’s going to retire and he’s gotta do something. I can pay good money for a good chef like him.” Tsarukyan previously claimed it would only take “one axe kick” to beat Volkanovski. Arman has not fought in the UFC since submitting Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar last November, while he has been staying active by taking grappling and RAF fights, as he will rematch Georgio Poullas at RAF 7 on Saturday.
