Arman Tsarukyan Touches On ‘Good Meetings’ With UFC Matchmakers

Many feel that Arman Tsarukyan will be next for a shot at the lightweight title following the expected match between division champion Ilia Topuria and interim titleholder Justin Gaethe this year.

But it seems the No. 2 ranked Armenian contender has other options that he is open to, as mentioned on the Ariel Helwani Show following his positive experience sitting down with the UFC’s matchmakers.

In his most recent outing, Tsarukyan defeated Dan Hooker with an arm triangle choke in the third round of their contest in November. This victory landed him on a five-fight win streak, while improving his overall record in the UFC to 10-2.

Tsarukyan was scheduled for his shot at the title back in January 2025 versus Islam Makhachev, but he was forced out of the fight last minute because of a neck injury. Since then, he has had his eye on the next opportunity for that belt, but now he has expressed that he is open to other options as well.

“Couple options. Title fights, other fights, we’ll see how it plays out,” Tsarukyan said.

“170, 145, 155. The most intriguing option is fighting for the lightweight title in September or October, after Justin [Gaethje]. They told me the winner of Charles and Max. Volk? Volk is good too. They said they’re interested.

“Good meetings. I’ve always been good with Hunter, they said ‘Keep doing what you’re doing’, so that’s good.”
