Artur Beterbiev Overcomes Anthony Yarde To Retain WBC, WBO, and IBF Titles

Russian professional boxer Artur Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs) dismantled Anthony Yarde (23-3, 22 KOs) in the eighth round of a high-quality bout in London. The 38-year-old retained his WBC, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight titles and extended his winning streak to 19 matches.

The official time for the stoppage in the eighth round was 2.08. Yarde was struggling to get to his feet before his corner stopped the fight after Beterbiev pounced for the follow-up flurry.

It wasn’t an easy match for the Russian, but he was in the ascendancy throughout the match and looked better than ever. He gave his opponent plenty to think about his movement and anticipation.

Beterbiev was in control throughout the match as he set up an undisputed championship bout in 2023 with Dmitry Bivol. There is no confirmation about this fight, but it is a possibility with Beterbiev retaining his titles again.

“Every fight is different. If I did it again, I would want to do better,” Beterbiev’s immediate reaction.

“Everyone in this category can punch hard. Anthony did too. He’s young, and he has time. I hope he does well in the future.

“To be honest, every punch we prepared for. That’s why I came back. We expect that, that’s why I won.”
