Artur Beterbiev vs. Adam Deines Rescheduled Once Again
Artur Beterbiev vs. Adam Deines once again has a new date.
Beterbiev was initially set to put his WBC and IBF Light-Heavyweight Title on the line against Deines in October 2020. That plan was scrapped when Beterbiev suffered a rib injury in training. The bout was rescheduled for January 30 but again, the date had to change as Beterbiev tested positive for COVID-19.
WBC has revealed that Beterbiev has recovered from COVID-19. As a result, his title defense against Deines has rescheduled for March 20.
“WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Artur Beterbiev of Russia is fully recovered after he was diagnosed with COVID-19 in December. Due to illness, the fight between Beterbiev and German Adam Deines, which was scheduled for January 30, has been rescheduled for March 20, most likely in Moscow, Russia.
“Beterbiev, 35, has an unbeaten record of 15 wins (15 knockouts). Deines, 29, has 19 wins (10 knockouts), one loss and one draw. Beterbiev has been out of the ring since October 2019, when he scored the biggest victory of his career by defeating Oleksandr Gvozdyk of Ukraine.”
Beterbiev hasn’t competed since October 2019. That bout ended in a TKO victory over Oleksandr Gvozdyk. Beterbiev was already the IBF Champion going into the bout but he captured the WBC gold from Gvozdyk.
In his last outing back in September 2019, he took on Yevgenii Makhteienko. Deines scored the knockout victory.
