Artur Beterbiev vs. Adam Deines Won’t Happen On January 30

Artur Beterbiev vs. Adam Deines has once again been pushed back.

Beterbiev was initially set to put his gold on the line against Deines on October 23. That plan was derailed when Beterbiev suffered a rib injury. The fight was rescheduled for January 30. Now, that date has also fallen through.

In an Instagram post, Beterbiev revealed that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

“Dear friends! Unfortunately, I got the coronavirus. Therefore, my fight with Adam Deines, scheduled for January 30, is postponed for a later date. I will try to recover as soon as possible and return to preparations. I hope for your understanding and support.”

Beterbiev is the WBC and IBF Light-Heavyweight Champion. His bout with Deines was supposed to be a title defense. Top Rank Boxing noted in a press release that there are plans in place to shoot for a new date.

Beterbiev has not stepped inside the ring since October 18, 2019. Deines last competed on September 28, 2019.

Up to this point, Beterbiev has amassed a perfect pro boxing record of 15-0 with all 15 wins coming by way of knockout. We’ll keep you posted with updates on Beterbiev vs. Deines as they become available.
