Artur Beterbiev Vs. Anthony Yarde Postponed Due To Injury
Artur Beterbiev’s face off against Anthony Yarde has been postponed after Beterbiev suffered an undisclosed injury. The fight that was scheduled for October has now been moved to early 2023.
According to promoter Frank Warren and IFL TV, Yarde (22-2, 21KOs) will take on a fight in November.
Back in June, Beterbiev (18-0, 18KOs) earned a second-round knockout, winning the WBO belt against Joe Smith Jr.
This is not the first time Beterbiev has suffered from an injury.
In 2020, his fight against Adam Deines was postponed due to suffering both an illness and an injury. The two were finally able to meet last March.
Yarde was in attendance for this bout, already prepping for his own bout. But now, the wait continues.
Due to the delay, the winner will have at least another mandatory title defense. Title eliminators for both the WBC and IBF have been ordered.
This Saturday, the Oleksandr Usyk-Anthony Joshua undercard will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Callum Smith and Matthew Bauderlique will fight in a WBC final eliminator.
On August 30, a purse bid hearing will take place for the IBF. The hearing will look into the promotional rights for the ordered title elimination bout between Joshua Buatsi and Jean Pascal.
