Artur Beterbiev Vs. Marcus Browne Set For December 17
Artur Beterbiev and Marcus Browne are officially hitting the ring in December,
Beterbiev (16-0, 16 KOs) will be putting his WBC and IBF light heavyweight titles and winning streak on the line when he meets Browne (24-1, 16 KOs) on December 17 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, where Beterbiev moved nearly a decade ago.
“It’s been a dream of mine to defend my titles in front of the fans who have supported me my entire pro career,” Beterbiev said in a statement. “I look forward to defending my titles in dominant fashion.”
“This is the moment in my life that I’ve been waiting for and I’m ready to take advantage of it,” Browne added in a statement. “I know exactly what I have to do to take the titles from Beterbiev and that’s what I’m going to do.”
Beterbiev, originally of Russia, is coming off a first-round stoppage over Isidro Ranoni Prieto in December 2016 in Canada. He snatched the vacant IBF world title in his next fight over Enrico Koelling.
He added the WBC light heavyweight strap with a TKO over Oleksandr Gvozdyk in October 2019.
Browne won an interim world title in January 2019 via unanimous decision versus two-weight world champion Badou Jack. But then he lost it to Jean Pascal in his following fight.
The 30-year-old is also the WBC No. 1 contender and 2012 U.S. Olympian.
The two boxers will headline world title tripleheader, which will be streaming live on ESPN+.
