Arum Calls May-Pac Rematch A “Cash Grab”

With two of his former fighters looking to square off in a rematch, Bob Arum feels like a Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight is not a good idea.

On the heels of Pacquiao joining up with Mayweather’s adviser Al Haymon, Arum feels that both Pacquiao and Mayweather are no longer “elite” fighters and that its just another payday for the aging champions.

“They’re past their prime. It’ll do good at the box office,” Arum told TMZ this week. “It’ll make money, which is fine. But, they’re not elite fighters anymore.”

“It’s a money grab. Business is business. It’s good money for each of them. You can’t begrudge them, but they’re not elite anymore.”

Whether not the fight happens, the first showdown featured 4.6 million Pay-Per-View buys, the most in history, and may be enough to entice one more showdown.
