Arum Feels Pacquiao Beats Mayweather Today

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum feels if Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather had a rematch, there would be a different outcome from the first fight.

Arum promoted Pacquiao at the time of the 2015 co-promoted event, which saw numerous financial records broken. Mayweather won the fight via unanimous decision.

Pacquiao has since left Arum and Top Rank, now competing under the umbrella of Al Haymon and Premier Boxing Champions (PBC). He most recently competed last month, defeating Keith Thurman in a classic performance that won Pacquiao the WBA “Super” welterweight title.

Arum feels the performance was the perfect one for Pacquiao to retire after, despite Pacquiao’s wishes to continue fighting.

He got the win, he went out on a big note,” he told Fighthype.com. “I would recommend that this is the time for him to hang it up; but listen, he makes his own choices.”

Pacquiao has called out the 50-0 retired Mayweather for a rematch, and the two have gotten into online spats, with each accusing the other of clinching onto their name to stay relevant.

Arum says if the fight ever has a chance to happen, then it needs to do so based on the projected success a rematch would bring. He also sees Pacquiao being the one to come out on top this time and finally make Mayweather eat a loss.

“If that fight happens, then it’s probably worth it to do because that would be a big, big, big fight,” Arum said. “Manny Pacquiao would win now.”
