Aspen Ladd Replaces Holly Holm In UFC Fight Night 195 Main Event

Aspen Ladd will headline the UFC Vegas 40 main event against Norma Dumont after Holly Holm was dropped from the card due to injury.

The news of Holly Holm not competing at the October 16 main event came out late Wednesday night. It was reported that the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion has suffered a knee injury, ruling her out of the event.

Initially, it wasn’t sure that whether Dumont will still be able to compete in the event or not, but the UFC came up with a replacement for the Brazilian in the form of Ladd.

Ladd was scheduled to fight this past week at UFC Vegas 38, but her bantamweight bout against Macy Chiasson was canceled due to her inability to make weight for the bout.

But now Ladd has got another chance as she makes her featherweight debut against Dumont.

With the introduction of Ladd in the UFC’s women’s featherweight division, it will give a much-needed boost to the crumbling division that never took off since its inception.

But it’s not known whether she will stay here or return to her parent division where she has enjoyed most of the success so far.

On the other hand, Dumont hasn’t been able to replicate the same success in the featherweight division as she did in bantamweight.

She is currently 1-1 in the division with her debut featherweight loss coming against Australian Megan Anderson. But she quickly shrugged off this loss with a recent win against another former title contender Felicia Spencer in May.

With the introduction of Ladd, here is the updated card for UFC Fight Night 195:

  • Aspen Ladd vs. Norma Dumont
  • Andre Arlovski vs. Carlos Felipe
  • Andrew Sanchez vs. Bruno Silva
  • Manon Fiorot vs. Mayra Bueno Silva
