Aspinall Hints At Gane Rematch

UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall (15-3, 1 NC) has confirmed he is back in full training and in talks with the UFC over his return, suggesting the Ciryl Gane (14-2, 1 NC) rematch could be close.

Aspinall revealed he is currently in camp and that episodes of his new podcast series “The Inner Game” would drop weekly over the next 12 weeks — a window that would point to a fight date in late September or early October.

“Back in full training for the Ciryl Gane fight and we’re currently in talks with the UFC. These episodes will be coming out over the next 12 weeks while I’m in camp,” Aspinall

The announcement follows Eddie Hearn confirming on Wednesday that Aspinall’s team had formally reached out to the UFC about his return. Aspinall has been sidelined since the UFC 321 no-contest against Gane last October, in which accidental eye pokes left him unable to continue and required surgery. Meanwhile, Gane claimed the interim heavyweight title at UFC Freedom 250 earlier this month, stopping Alex Pereira in the second round.
