Tom Aspinall was receptive to Michael Bisping’s warm words after the latter backed him to defeat Jon Jones.
Aspinall’s UFC recent record speaks for itself. Six wins out of his last seven fights culminated with a devastating win over Marcin Tybura.
Despite being out of the cage for a year, following his loss and injury to Curtis Blaydes, Aspinall returned to stop Tybura in just 73 seconds.
In the aftermath, Aspinall called out Jones as Bisping backed him to come out victorious.
“Jon Jones is the heavyweight champion. He’s an incredible fighter. He’s incredible. He’s one of the greatest of all time. I don’t think he can hold a candle to Tom. I think Tom will do the same thing to Jon Jones as what he did to Marcin Tybura. I don’t think there’s anyone that can stop Tom Aspinall. He’s that good,” Aspinall
Those comments were picked up by Aspinall, as he was confident of stopping Jones. This is despite the fact that Jones’ recent return to the octogan after three years out did nothing to his form.
Bones returned to beat Ciryl Gane in a first-round submission to become the heavyweight champion. And yet, Aspinall fancied his chances.
“Well Bisping is bigging me up a bit there isn’t he, Bisping will have some hate from that I’m sure. But I’m definitely confident that I can beat him. Whether I can beat him with that much ease, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens. I feel like I’m one of the most skilled heavyweights ever and I feel like I’m also two speeds above everyone else. I’m doing stuff that people can’t even see at heavyweight,” Aspinall
