Grigory “Pretty Boy” Drozd is a 6’ 1” Russian cruiserweight who was born in Prokopyevsk, Russia on August 26th in 1979. After just 3 amateur fights in which he went 3-0, he turned pro in 2001. He was 25-0 and captured multiple regional Russian cruiserweight titles when he suffered his first defeat, a 5th round TKO by Firat Arslan in a WBC cruiserweight title eliminator bout.
Drozd shook off the loss and won his next 13 fights which included more regional and international cruiserweight titles when he finally earned his first world title fight. In 2014 Drozd defeated Krzysztof Wlodarczyk via unanimous decision to win the WBC cruiserweight world title. In 2015 Drozd made his first world title defense scoring a 9th round stoppage to remain world champ and hold onto the #1 world ranking in the cruiserweight division.
