Jackie Nava was born in Tiujana, Mexico on April 11th, in 1980. She made her professional boxing debut in 2001 and won her first world title in 2005 when she won the vacant WBA female bantamweight world title. Nava holds the distinction of being the first ever WBC women’s world champion when she won the WBC super bantamweight world title in 2005, making her a world champion in two different weight classes.
For the next ten years Nava would win and lose the WBC & WBA super bantamweight world titles going 6-2-1 while fighting for the WBC world title, and going 5-0 with the WBA title on the line. Nava was also 7-0 when the interim WBC title was up for grabs and 2-0 fighting for the WBA interim title. In February of 2015 scored a 6th round knockout to retain her WBC & WBA female super bantamweight world title and was the top ranked super bantamweight in the world in the women’s division.
