Jessica Chavez was born in Mexico City, Mexico on June 15th, in 1988. She made her pro debut in June of 2006 at the age of 18 and scored a 4th round TKO victory. In 2009, with a record of 6-1-2, Chavez fought Yessica Bop for the vacant WBA female light flyweight world title but lost a 10 round unanimous decision.
In 2011 Chavez received her second chance to become a world champion and squeaked out a split decision win to become the IBF female light flyweight world champion. In 2014 Chavez fought Ibeth Silva for the WBC female light flyweight world title and lost another 10 round unanimous decision.
After the loss to Silva, Chavez moved up to the flyweight division. She won her first three fights in her new weight class, and captured the WBC female flyweight world title on September 9th in 2015 to make her a 2-time world champion and also gave her the #1 world ranking in the female flyweight division.
