Bio
Jon Fitch was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in the United States on February 24th in 1978. Fitch wrestled at Purdue and was the captain of the team. In 2002 Fitch decided to see if his wrestling ability would translate in the MMA world and at first it didn’t seem like it would as Fitch lost his debut. After going 2-2- with 1 NC in his first 5 fights Fitch rattled off 16 straight wins culminating with a shot at Georges St. Pierre and the UFC welterweight title. Fitch lost a decision to GSP but won his next 5 fights and almost worked his way back into another title fight before losing to BJ Penn in a title eliminator bout.
Fitch left the UFC in June of 2014 and began competing for the World Series of Fighting. Fitch went 2-2 in the WSOF losing his last fight when he was facing Rousimar Palhares for the WSOF welterweight title. After the fight Fitch was suspended for failing a post-fight drug test and his future is on hold for now.
