Jose Uzcategui made his professional boxing debut on March 25, 2011. Uzcategui primarily competed in Mexico and picked up 22 straight wins, along with the then-vacant WBO Latino Super Middleweight Championship. He suffered his first defeat in June 2014, Uzcategui’s first pro bout outside of Mexico.
Uzcategui competed against Andre Dirrell for the IBF Super Middleweight interim title but lost the bout on a controversial disqualification.
