Bio

After success in smaller shows, Murthel Groenhart was invited to compete in the -75kg tournament for K-1 in 2008, a tournament which he won in spectacular fashion.

His success earned him an invitation to compete in It’s Showtime. In 2011, Groenhart received a 77MAX title shot, losing to then-champion Artem Levin. Groenhart, however, rebounded with a winning streak, including a win of the 2012 K-1 World MAX World Championship Tournament title.

Groenhart first competed for GLORY Kickboxing at GLORY 7, losing to Robin van Roosmalen by unanimous decision. Groehnhart defeated Nicola Gallo and Karim Ghajji in one night to win the welterweight contender tournament at GLORY 25. He received a title shot at GLORY 26 but lost to then-champion Nieky Holzken.

Groenhart won a welterweight contender tournament at GLORY 31, defeating Karim Benmansour and Yoann Knogolo to earn another shot at Holzken and the welterweight title at GLORY 34. Groenhart, however, came up short once again.

Groenhart finally captured the GLORY Welterweight Title at GLORY 44 in August 2017, defeating Cedric Doumbe.
