Paul Daley’s martial arts experiences began at the age of 8, when he first took up karate before later transitioning to Muay Thai. Daley began training MMA at age 18.
Daley made his professional MMA debut in June 2003. Daley began competing various MMA promotions, including Cage Warriors, Cage Rage, Pancrase, Strikeforce, and EliteXC before signing a UFC contract. Daley debuted for UFC at UFC 103 in September 2009, defeating Martin Kampmann. After winning a bout with Dustin Hazelett at UFC 108, Daley met Josh Koscheck at UFC 113 in May 2010 in a welterweight title eliminator bout. Koscheck won via decision, but Daley hit him after the bell, resulting in Daley’s release from the promotion.
Daley returned to Strikeforce for a few bouts, including a welterweight title shot against Nick Diaz that ended in a loss. Daley first appeared in Bellator at Bellator 72 in July 2012, defeating Rudy Bears. He made his return to Bellator at Bellator 134 in February 2015, winning four out of six bouts since.
