Ruslan Provodnikov was born in Russia on January 20th in 1984. He was 130-20 as an amateur and made his professional boxing debut in 2006. After going 17-0 to start his career Provodnikov lost a 12 round unanimous decision in 2011. He won his next 5 fights to earn his first world title fight.
In 2013 Provodnikov took on Timothy Bradley Jr. for Bradley’s WBO welterweight world title. Provodnikov put up a valiant effort but lost a 12 round unanimous decision by scores of 115-112 and 114-113 twice. Provodnikov dropped down to super lightweight in his next fight and won the WBO super lightweight world title with a 10th round stoppage of Mike Alvarado. Provodnikov lost the title in his very next fight via split decision. He has alternated wins and losses in his last 7 fights with his last fight being a win in November of 2015. If he hopes to get another world title shot he’s going to have to build another winning streak.
