Known for his aggressiveness and strength, Shawn Porter complied an amazing amateur career record of 276-14. Winning the 2007 World Golden Gloves Championship, Porter earned wins over pros such as Daniel Jacobs and Demetrius Andrade on the amateur circuit.
Porter made his professional debut on Oct. 3, 2008 and went unbeaten in 26 bouts. On Dec. 7, 2013, Porter defeated Devon Alexander to win the IBF Welterweight Championship. He lost the title to Kell Brook on Aug. 16, 2014. Porter earned a shot at Keith Thurman and the WBA Welterweight Championship in June 2016, but he lost the bout via unanimous decision.
Porter defeated Andre Berto in April 2017 to earn another future welterweight title shot against Thurman.
