Takashi Miura was born in Akita Japan on May 14th in 1984. Miura is a southpaw boxer in the super featherweight division. As an amateur Miura showed good power winning 34 fights, with 22 wins coming by knockout. He turned pro in 2003 and ran his record to 12-0-1 before losing a decision to fellow countryman Yusuke Kobori in 2007 while fighting for the Japanese super featherweight title. In 2009 Miura had another chance to win the Japanese super featherweight title but fought to a draw with Yoshimitsu Yashiro. In a rematch with Yashiro 6 months later Miura finally won the Japanese super featherweight title when he stopped Yashiro in the 7th round.
After four successful title defenses Miura received his first world title fight in 2011. Facing WBA super featherweight world champion Takashi Uchiyama, Miura was stopped for the first time in his career when he couldn’t answer the bell to start the 9th round. Miura won his next four fights and in 2013 received a second world title shot. This time his opponent was WBC super featherweight world champion Gamaliel Diaz. Miura stopped Diaz in the 9th round to win his first world title. In May of 2015 Miura made his fourth consecutive title defense and was ranked 3rd in the world in the super featherweight division.
