Takashi Uchiyama was born in Japan on November 10th, in 1979. As an amateur Uchiyama won the All Japan Amateur boxing tournament 3 times as a lightweight and also won the National Sports Festival as a lightweight. After winning 91 fights in the amatuers, with 59 of those wins coming by knockout, Uchiyama turned pro in 2005. He ran his record to 13-0 with 10 knockouts to earn his first world title fight.
In January of 2010 Uchiyama squared off against Juan Carlos Salgado for Salgado’s WBA Super Featherweight world title. In the 12th and final round with Uchiyama ahead on the judges’ scorecards, Uchiyama took the decision out of the judges’ hands by stopping Salgado with 12 seconds left in the fight. In 2015 Uchiyama made the 10th defense of his title and remained undefeated with 23 wins, no losses, and 19 wins coming via knockout.
