Valentina Shevchenko is a champion kickboxer, Muay Thai fighter and mixed martial artist. Shevchenko has practiced taekwondo since she was 5 before also branching out to Muay Thai, kickboxing and Vale Tudo. As a 12-year-old, she knocked out a 22-year-old opponent.
She made her professional MMA debut at 15, and has previously been balancing her MMA career with her other combat sports. Shevchenko won her first seven pro MMA bouts in a row. Shevchenko made her UFC debut in December 2015, defeating Sarah Kaufman. After a loss to Amanda Nunes, she earned victories over Holly Holm and Julianna Pena.
Shevchenko will look for revenge on Nunes with the UFC women’s bantamweight title on the line at UFC 213.
