Will Brooks was born in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States on October 8th, in 1986. Brooks is a mixed martial artist with a background in wrestling. He made his professional MMA debut in 2011 and fought 5 times that year winning all 5 fights via stoppage (1 KO, 4 subs). He went 3-0 in 2012 with 2 of those wins coming by knockout.
In 2013 Brooks joined Bellator and found the competition to be a bit stiffer. He won his Bellator debut via decision and then lost for the first time in his professional career when he was knocked out in the first round by Saad Awad. Brooks rebounded from the loss by winning his next 4 fights, but the wins weren’t coming easy as 3 of those wins came via decision.
The first title fight for Brooks came in 2014 when he faced off against Michael Chandler for the interim Bellator lightweight championship and won a split decision. His next fight was a rematch with Chandler for the vacant Bellator lightweight championship and Brooks didn’t leave it up to the judges’ this time as he scored a 4th round TKO. Brooks made his first successful title defense at Bellator 136.
