Bio
Originally born in Januaria, Brazil, Wilson Reis earned his black belt in BJJ from Roberto Godoi.
Two fights into his pro MMA career, Reis found himself on the big stage in Elite XC and ShoXC, where he earned wins over Zach Makovsky, Bryan Caraway, and Abel Cullum.
Reis was recruited to Bellator MMA early in the promotions beginning, defeating Henry Martinez by decision at Bellator 2 in 2009. He remained in the company until 2011, having picked up some notable wins over good fighters but unable to reach the top of the division, losing to Eduardo Dantas and Patricio Pitbull twice.
After some time spent in the minor leagues, Reis was picked up by the UFC, and dropped to Flyweight in August 2014. Since then, he picked up wins over Scott Jorgensen and Dustin Ortiz en route to a title shot against Demetrious Johnson at UFC 201.
