Atomweight Title Fight Headlines Invicta FC 42 In September
Following an impressive win at Invicta 40 in July, Alesha Zappitella will be reward with a quick turnaround bout. In Kansas City, Invicta FC 42 will see Zappitella face off against Ashley Cummins for the vacant Invicta FC Atomweight Title.
The event will air on UFC Fight Pass on September 17.
Zappitella (7-2) made her MMA debut in 2016. “Half Pint” joined Invicta FC in 2018, beating Jillian DeCoursey via unanimous decision. She has gone 4-2 with the promotion. The 25-year-old will also be fighting in her third fight of 2020. Back in February, Zappitella beat Kelly D’Angelo at Invicta FC 39.
At the beginning of July, Zappitella beat Lindsey VanZandt in a back and forth affair at Invicta 40 FC. Zappitella won via split decision, seemingly earning herself a title opportunity.

Cummins has competed for Invicta and Bellator. 4-5 with the promotion, the 32-year-old is 2-2 in her last four fights. She lost her last bout back in February against Jinh Yu Frey, the Invicta FC Antomweight Champion. Due to Frey missing weight, she couldn’t keep the belt, making it vacant.
