Aukstikalnis Looks For Title At KOK 54

In Riga, Latvia, from the Riga Arena, King of Kings presents their 54th event. In one of the featured fights of the evening, Mike Sprangh of Holland will defend his 187 lbs title against hometown favorite, Raimonds Aukstikalnis.

Sprangh, when talking to FIGHT SPORTS this week, believed that Aukstikalnis is a good fighter and will be coming for a fight at KOK 54, but believes he’s  the more complete fighter and will be able to walk away the winner and still the champion.

Across the ring, the 22 year old Latvian, Aukstikalnis feels focused on this fight, and motivated by the fact that he’s fighting for the title, telling FIGHT SPORTS that he likes the feeling of being in a main event level fight.

Even though stepping up to fight Sprangh is a risk, Aukstikalnis is not stranger to taking risks, not only as a professional kickboxer, but also in his day job as a firefighter in his hometown in Latvia.

When asked if his girlfriend, Kristina is worried about him risking himself not only in the ring, but also as a firefighter, he said that, she’s always worried, and hopes that nothing ever happens to him.

And while Kristina may be worried for her boyfriend’s health on Saturday night, both Aukstikalnis and Sprangh are worried about one thing, walking out of Riga as champion.
